Researched common failures on Google and found the speed control switch was a common fail.

Removed screws in the tools handle exposing the speed control switch

Removed the three wires by tugging them out with pliers while noting their order in the old switch

Reinserted the wires in the same order u sing pliers to ensure they were firmly inserted into the new switch

Reassembled the handle and screws

Plugged the polisher in and have it a try at all speed settings and it worked like new.
