Product Description

?

This is a Ball Bearing that is sealed on both sides. This is a genuine Porter Cable replacement part that is sold individually. • Ball bearings minimize friction between 2 parts in your tool that would otherwise spin and rub against each other. The balls or rollers take the load and spin, distributing the weight evenly while the minimal contact area of the balls reduce friction. This reduces wear on the tool and allows it to run smoothly. • Bearings experience constant wear when the tool is in operation from pressure, heat, vibration and friction. Because of this, many Bearings need periodic maintenance or replacement.

After finding a complete layout of parts I removed the 5 body screws. Then I removed the motor and took off 4 parts so I could reach the bearing and removed that with a small gear puller. Then using a heavy washer and a socket I hammered the new bearing into place. I then reassembled the parts referring to the lay out of parts online to e nsure everything went back into place. Turned on sander and it ran smoother and faster then before.

Printed exploded view from eReplacements.com, took apart sander and kept pieces together, ordered failed bearing and three other high-wear items. Main bearing took long to arrive. Biggest problem was remembering what went where because diagram was not as detailed as one would have liked, but eventually figured it out. Recommend taking sequential photos as you take apart the item, so photos can be referenced on the reassembly.
