This manufacturer sourced replacement part is designed for use with Delta and Porter Cable power tools. The purpose of the brush cap is to secure the carbon brush in the tool. This item is made from durable plastic and it is sold individually, to secure or remove it you will need a flat-head screwdriver.
One of the brushes was worn out so I replaced both and replaced the brush holder that was corroded. All that had to be removed was the motor housing by taking out three screws.
