This sander disc plate is an OEM direct from Craftsman for sanders. This part supports and holds the sanding disc. It is recommended that the user unplugs the sander before replacing this part. You will need a screw driver to replace this part. This sander disc plate is made of rubber and sold individually.
Removed our screws, removed the old backing oads on two orbital sanders, put new pads on and installed the screws Nothing to it. The original sander parts disintegrated due to age
I removed the old parts.
The new disc plate was held onto the sander with locking lugs that required a flat tip screwdriver to help set into place. I found a little lubricating oil was required to assist the fit. This was the most trouble and took most of the time to install- maybe 15 minutes to figure out.

The whole procedure might have taken 30 minutes. Now, I have a fully functional orbital sander and these spare parts saved me a lot of money over buying a new sander.
remove 4 screws on bottom pad, one screw that held bearing. pull plate by unsnapping, this is the plastic guard that goes around pad. replace guard by snapping in, screw in bearing install pad.
