Moulded cord at router end deteriorated.

1 - remove router top plastic cover (2 Phillips screws).
2 - remove cord moulded end capture clamp (2 T20 torx screws).
3 - cut black, white and green wires from existing crimp connections.
4 - cut to length same color wires on new cord.
5 - using 16 gauge crimp butt splices and crimping tool, connect new cord wire s to router internal wires.
6 - install moulded cord clamp over new cord end (2 T20 screws)
7 - install plastic cover (2 Phillips screws).
8 - Insure on / off switch is in off position, plug in, turn on to test.
9 - In my case, I\'d lost the collet chuck snap ring nut retainer, so I also installed the new one provided (purchased by me).

Was given a Porter Cable router with 1/4\" collet only. Needed 1/2\" Collet.

On/off switch failed and bits sloped in the collet.

Removed the top and power switch. Installed switch. Replaced cover.

Removed old collet nut. Struggled to remove old snap ring inside the collet nut, because I didnÆt have the snap ring pliers, and thought it would not be available locally. Later I found that Lowes did carry them and they cost only $15. Used the new snap rin g pliers to remove the old snap ring and install the new. Easy!
