This part was replaced pursuant to a Milwaukee repair bulletin dated 2003, which calls for substitution of the improved part over the original. Milwaukee customer service provide no response to my repeated requests for instructions on removal of the old button. In the end I pried the old one out with a screwdriver, damaging it in the pr ocess. (It\'s plastic, so it was flexible enough to do that.) The spring came out after that on its own. Replacement was simply a matter of pushing the new part into place until it clicked. Now the router, which is pretty heavy, should hold its position while used in my router table.

Removed router and plate from table. Removed plate from router base. That gave me access to the dust cover so I could replace it. Took router motor out of the base which gave me access to the release tab on the plunger. Used screw driver to engage the tab on the plunger to remove it and the plunger spring. Put the new spring and plunger i n base until the tab engaged the base. Reinstalled router in base and plate. Put it all back in the table and all was good.
