This genuine manufacturer-sourced replacement component which is specially designed for use with DeWALT routers. It is a center part of an electric motor which drives the unit, over time due to physical contact with carbon brushes it will eventually wear out requiring a replacement. This is a complete assembly which includes the armature, the plastic fan, the armature bearing and the commutator end bearing.

Easy Repair....Part worked as expected
When I opened the box on a Saturday morning, I noticed that the new armature assembly was damaged. I immediately called customer service. I am going to be honest; I was a little bit rude to the customer service rep because it was evident that the part was damaged prior to being shipped as the parts broken off the assembly were not in the box. The rep was very professional, and I quickly apologized for being snippy. Anyways…. people make mistakes. Its how there delt with that sets companies apart from others. I burnt out the Armature pushing my router too hard
Initially replaced the magnetic bushings but the excessive sparking did not go away so ordered the replacement armature. The new armature did the trick. The how-to video on armature replacement was helpful.
