Oh Well, OK, I guess
I purchased a BOSCH router used- knowing it needed a speed controller. I ran the router on variable DC power supply- so, I knew the motor was good, ACTUALLY, the speed controller was less expensive at official BOSCH site! by a few dollars- yet- I had RP on the line- and they refunded shipping to get same price--very nice. Still, after installing the new RP part, the router had only ONE SPEED- fast- regardless of wheel setting. I gave the whole unit away to a woodworker that was OK with FAST only. Maybe not a real BOSCH part? Who knows? Just $50.00 buck experiment. Think about this for a minute- I found about 15 suppliers of this speed controller on line. How good could it have ever been- with this kind of demand?

Remove the top cover. Take a picture of the wiring or make a wiring diagram. Make note how and where the speed control is installed. Remove the speed control and exchange the wires from the defective one to the new one. Make sure all of the wires are connected correctly and out of the way of being pinched, then attach the top cover.

Initially I thought it was the speed control as The switch at the time seemed OK. After replacing the speed control, and still not working, I pulled the switch out and tested it again. It was faultl
The hex wrench fit the cove screws. The speed control as three wires with connectors. the switch was removed by pushing in on the spring clips with a small screwdriver. After reinstalling the switch (just snapping it in) I reconnected the leads (one to the switch, and the other from the switch to their appropriate connections. The spee
... Read mored control is loose, but sort of sits in a little indentation at the front (knob end). It is easier if one aligns the cover exactly when lowering it onto the base. that way, the speed control stays in place. replace the cover with the screws already inserted, and tighten with the hex wrench. Pretty straight forward operation. Works like new.
Removed top cover of router. Easily removed defective switch and connected wires. Replaced top cover with the two screws. Just like knew again!
The customers service young woman was was very helpful and extremely personable.
Replaced carbon brushes and speed control. Brushes were probably okay, but cheap to replace with the router already apart. Found the speed control was defective, changing output as it warmed up.
