This is an authentic replacement part manufactured for use with reciprocating saws. Brushes are used to transfer electricity to the commutators on the armature to create a magnetic field that would allow the armature to spin and power the saw. Brushes need to be in constant contact with the commutator to maintain the electric current. Since brushes are in constant contact with the rotating commutator the brushes will wear down. Worn brushes will cause performance issues with the saw. Brushes are a common item to replace to maintain the saws standard of operation. This brush includes the spring that pushes it against the commutator, and the brush is sold individually.
