The throttle valve plug fits next to the o-ring and the throttle spring and helps to cover the throttle valve. It is available as an individual replacement part and is made of plastic. This genuine item is supplied by the original equipment manufacturer for use with Chicago Pneumatic ratchets. A set of pliers and a screwdriver may be required to replace this plug if it becomes broken.
Inserted throttle pin, throttle valve and spring, and plug. Tighten throttle plug with screwdriver. Plugged ratchet to air hose and throttle is working fine. No air leaks. Very simple and easy repair. Would use again if more repairs are needed.
Replaced plug throttle valve only a couple parts in there. It is a 20 year old CP air ratchet I was surprised you had parts for it. Easy cheep fix. I will always check eReplacementParts first.
1. Removed black plastic screw cap from body of wrench.
2. Removed old spring and plastic valve.
3. Cleaned valve seat.
4. Removed o-ring from plastic screw and replaced with new o-ring.
5. Put new valve, spring and cap screw in body
6. Test to confirm.

It was a plastic plug in an air wrench which failed. Not a strain Relief.
With a screwdriver I removed the old throttle plug, o-ring, spring, throttle valve, and pin. Then I cleaned out the area and oiled the new parts as I installed them. Works great now.
