Product Description

?

This is a genuine Presto replacement part, it is sold individually. The purpose of the 09909 Pressure Cooker Sealing Ring/Automatic Air Vent Pack is two-fold. The sealing ring is used to create a seal between the Pressure cooker lid and the pressure cooker pot. In the event if the pressure regulator fails, and to much pressure builds up in the pot, the Automatic Air Vent will pop out of the lid releasing the excess pressure in the pot.

I purchased this pressure cooker at a garage sale, and it was missing the pressure regulator and the seal inside the lid was dried out.

Removed the old sealing ring - I had to use a knife to start it, as it had not been used in quite some time and it was dried into the lid. Once I got it out, I replaced it with the new one. When replacing a sealing ring, I usually have to kind of squish it into the lid to make it fit. Then I used my hands/fingers and removed the old safet y valve, because I assumed it was as old as the sealing ring. It was very easy to just pop out, and the new one was very easy to pop in. When using the pressure cooker, I placed the new pressure regulator on top and everything worked fine.

Pretty simple, remove old ring, then clean where the old worn ring was.Install the new seal in. Pop the old pressure plug out and put the new one in. Takes about 30 seconds and it works like a dream. Been using these pressure cookers for almost 50 years and wouldn\'t trade them for anything that is out there today.

If anyone has ever replaced a sealing ring in an old fashion pressure cooker then they know it tales patience to work it, and work it, and work it. What I did as in the past, I put the lid in hot water for a time and the lid seal in the freezer, flat for about 40+ minutes. It helps ...when you first start working the seal in you think \ "no way\" is this going to fit in...but honestly it really does. My pressure cooker works fantastic once again. I use it at least once a week right now for all kinds of dried beans. Nutritious and MUCH cheaper then canned. I\'ve had this cooker 40+ years and go thru cycles of heavy use. I don\'t cook beans any other way, which is why I was so glad to get these parts quickly and I expensively even with the shipping which was reasonable.

Since the company that made the pressure cooker is no longer in business I worked with the customer service agent to figure out what seal might work. The new one arrived and with instructions to wash and dry it first, installation was simple. And the pressure relief valve is of a whole new design but works perfectly.

First of all, I did not have a rice cooker, but a Presto pressure canner, and a Presto pressure cooker
Took out old pressure gauge from pressure canner
inserted new gasket into hole. This took a few minutes, and a little maneuvering, but it is supposed to be tight.
Screwed new pressure gauge into gasket. that\'s it. wor ks great, doesn\'t leak.
Took out old sealing ring from pressure canner and put in new. Took out old vent plug and inserted new, required a little scrunching, but easy. Works great, doesn\'t leak.
This whole process (ordering, quick service, and replacing parts) was super easy, and so much cheaper than buying new equipment. My old pressure cooker and pressure canner are older, and heavier models, so I have better quality equipment than if I bought new.

Somehow this got labeled as a rice cooker, and it is a pressure cooker. I took out the old pressure ring and also the pressure vent, as you should replace both at the same time. I thoroughly washed the pressure cooker lid, as debris can lodge between the pressure ring and the side of the lid. I thoroughly washed the hole in the lid to prepare it for the new pressure vent. I washer the new pressure ring and pressure vent and let the lid, the new seal, and the pressure vent all dry thoroughly. When they were completely dry, I put in the new pressure vent, then began the process of putting in the new pressure ring. This takes a little time, as the ring must be eased in by tucking it into place at the edge of the lid. Just when you think it\'s the wrong part, it finally \"seats\" itself. This is probably the sixth or seventh pressure ring I have installed in my pressure cooker. It was a wedding gift and will be 43 years old this summer.
