This is an original Makita replacement part manufactured for use with air compressors. The check valve allows air from the pump into the tank and prevents air from leaving the tank back to the pump. When a check valve is faulty the pump will try to start although air is in the tank, and the motor will try to start but does not engage, the motor will just make a humming sound.
