Removed the brush caps with a screwdriver, then removed the old brushes, and installed the new brushes and replaced the brush caps. Works great. THANKS.
Removed the cover, disconnected the wires. Removed screw retaining the switch. Replaced the switch, re-attached switch wires, and re-installed the cover. Removed brush caps and replaced the brush set.
I simply removed the worn parts and used the new ones as replacements. only tools used were a phillips screwdriver. Just be sure to note how the wires are routed in the case. I did install new ring terminals on the new cord, to insure a secure connection to the switch.
Overall very easy repair.

Planer would not run, my brother who owned the tool told me brushes were bad before he passed and I inherited it
Removed broken cap and worn out brushes and installed new.
