This is a genuine DeWALT replacement part for use in planers. The spring clip goes inside of the fan housing. It is made out of metal and will need to be replaced if it becomes broken or bent. A screwdriver and a set of pliers may be needed when replacing this clip which is sold individually.

Sawdust escaping inside the planer

Removed the top.
Separated the exhaust fan housing.
Removed the fan blade.
Removed the inside half of the fan housing.
Placed the missing spring clips.
Reversed the above steps to reassemble.

Fan housing worn through from many years of professional use.

Pliers, Screw drivers, Socket set
Remove top lid.
Unsnap 3 clips, flat screw driver.
Remove 2 screws that hold half of fan housing to other half and remove.
Place screw diver into fan blade and use a 13mm socket and ratchet to remove fan retaining nut.
Slide fan off motor shaft.
Remove four screws that hold remaining half of housing and remov e housIng.
Carefully remove snap ring with needle nose pliers and remove pin and spring.
Install pin and spring into new housing half.
Remove 3 clips from old housing carefully with needle nose pliers and install them on new housing.
Attach new housing half to motor then install fan blade onto motor shaft, hold fan blade with screwdriver and tighten nut carefully. Not too much, not too little.
Install other half of housing with two screws and 3 clips.
Replace cover.

1. Remove cover.
2. Remove handles.
3. Remove blower/impeller.
4. Replace.
