My delta planer no longer feeds the wood through and it sounds like a stripped gear ? What do i need

Hi James, Thank you for your question. If your planer is not feeding the wood, there are some parts that you will need to check to see which one is causing the issue. We recommend checking the drive belt, the infeed and outfeed rollers, the planer knives and the key. If you suspect the gears, you will need to check them to. Found on-line procedure for infeed roller along with Delta owners manual for out feed roller adjustment, job was fairly straightforward. Most difficult task was the chain and sprocket removal and replacement. Fortunately my son-in-law had a bicycle chain tool and saved the job. Planer operates like it did on day one. If I had remembered to check with ereplacement for Delta\'s discontinued parts I would have never bought a new planer. Thanks for a great service. Greg.

1. Take the cover off and raise the assembly.
2. The roller assembly, located underneath, has two mounts, one on either side. Take the two screws per mount off and drop the roller bearing. The roller will come free.
3. Replace the roller and reassemble.

Roller quit grabbing and slipped wood sporadically

I removed the top and both side covers. Removed the chain guard. I removed two retaining rings on the gear side of the rollers and removed the gears. I removed the retaining blocks on the opposite side and slid the rollers out. I had to loosen the gear side a little as well. I slid both rollers out and the new rollers in then reversed the prosses had trouble with the block springs so I
Lowered the rollers on a large block to hold them up while I tightened the screws.

Removed covers, gear box with sprockets & chains , placed wood blocks under feed rollers & lowered the knife head to relax the spring tension. Removed the roller retainers & springs & installed the new rollers then reversed the procedure.
