Peel off the protective blue film from the manufacturer. If it only comes off in tiny pieces that fit under your fingernail and refuses to come off even with scraping with a razor blade, try submerging it in ammonia. Fill a baking sheet with an ammonia based cleaner and let the wear plate soak for 20 minutes. Peel the film back from the e dges until it begins to tear. Submerge the plate again and wait another 20 minutes. Repeat the process until the film is completely removed.
Installing the wear plate is easy. Take the two screws off the case of one side of the planer. Take out the two screws that hold the retaining bracket that holds the wear plate. Remove the old wear plate and install the new one. Put the bracket and case back together and you\'re done.
