Senco SKS gun (mid 90\'). Remove four alan screws at the top of the cylinder and everything pulls straight out without any other tools. The old plastic piston is no longer made and the seal is no longer available for it. Since that was the main problem with the gun, I bought the new style aluminum piston. It slides right in. Lube all the rubber with silicone o-ring lube. Good as new again.

Because my staple is about 30 years old (Senco SKS 1/4 crown stapler) I was having issues finding parts. I only had the original Senco brochure with series design, their is no model number on this stapler anywhere? Ereplacements did not have anything on the SKS stapler, no PDF on the breakdown. I went through all the 1/4 crown stapler pic ture & breakdowns that Erep. had, comparing the designs until I concluding the closest. After chasing the original # of the seal from the closest designed stapler, I had concern from the picture that it was not the correct lower seal, but an o-ring (what was interesting, was the 1st thing I said to myself when I saw the lower seal was why did Senco make it this way, when an O-ring would have been better?). After going though a lot of reading and viewing, I saw a retrofit kit - sleeve/O-ring which I did see for the 1st time a reference to the SKS series. I took a chance on the kit believing I had made this choice wisely and it confirmed my concern that it should have been an O-ring (after all these years, all the other O-ring in the stapler where just fine) it was the lower seal shape that made no sense. I wasn\'t happy to see the new sleeve was aluminum (more expensive to make), the orig. composite seal was just fine for all these years, instead of an $8 part, I had to buy a $35 part. Anyway, my hunch paid off, the sleeve worked fine and it only took about 10 minutes to replace. *** ON ANOTHER NOTE - WE WOULD BE ABLE TO FIND SOME OF THESE OLDER ITEM IF THE COMPANIES DID NOT OUT-SOURCE EVERYTHING !! SO MANY ITEMS FROM THE PAST WHERE RETIRED / DISCONTINUED AND CROSS REFERENCING IGNORED OR JUST PLAIN DROPPED. ***

I\'m a person of habit, most my tools have been around 25-30 years because I take care of them. Now I have to accept that the older parts are purposely being dropped so the newer crappier tools that most won\'t last are being pushed on the USA by the corporations with the CEO\'s looking at lining their pockets over the sweat of the foreign laborers.

End result, the retro kit worked for me, but I took a chance, Ereplacments (whom I\'ve been using for some years) has limitations also, depending on info passed to them from the vast companies.

Sorry, just venting - Jim
