This is a special component which is utilized to provide an air-tight seal for the valve, please refer to the appropriate diagrams of this hardware. Using and Allen wrench I took the tool apart. After I removed the top of the nailer exposing the piston assembly I could see that the main seal had broken into pieces. The seal that was broken was not an O-ring so the O-ring set that I ordered did not contain that seal and I had to order that seal at that time. After I received that seal
