This is a genuine manufacturer-sourced part which is specially designed for use with DeWALT and Porter Cable nailers. The purpose of this bumper is to keep the piston from hitting the bottom of the cylinder and damaging it. Because this part gets so much abuse it has a tendency to crack and fall apart eventually requiring a replacement.
