The gasket goes between the nose and the piston bumper and helps to seal in the combustion. This is available as an individual replacement part. It is made of flexible rubber and may require a wrench and a set of pliers during replacement. This gasket is used in Hitachi roofing nailers and is an OEM replacement part.
