Product Description
?This coupling is used on some of the Dremel and Craftsman Multi-Tools. It is used to connect the armature and drive shaft. It will also strip to safeguard the motor from burning up if the drive shaft becomes bound up. If the tool is not used for a long period of time it can become brittle and break. We do send out quite a few of these, it may be wise to order an extra one just to have one on hand.

1. I r ... Read more emoved the two brushes, using a small, flat-bladed screwdriver. In retrospect, it isn\'t clear that this needs to be done.
2. The nose piece unscrews from the front of the Dremel tool, revealing two torx screws.
3. There are four additional torx screws visible that hold the two body shell halves together (six screws altogether).
4. After removing the torx screws (#15), I pulled the shell off - taking care to leave the motor and output shaft undisturbed in the other half of the shell
5. I removed the broken/disintegrated coupler pieces with a tweezer plus blowing the smaller pieces out (I didn\'t want to turn the assembly upside down).
6. The flexible coupling has splines molded in that match the splines on the motor shaft and the output shaft. The output shaft needs to be removed so the coupling will slide on to the motor shaft and then the output shaft. Since the coupling is flexible, its pretty easy to get the coupling on and the output shaft put back in place.
7. Reassemble the two shell halves, reinsert and tighten the six torx screws and then reinstall the nose piece.
8. Reinstall the two motor brushes - if they were removed initially.
