This kerf plate also known as a keft board is an authentic Dewalt item, it is not an aftermarket imitation. It is sourced directly from original equipment manufacturer for use on miter saws. These plates are used to prevent excessive splintering of the wood which results in cleaner cuts. Using the wrong kerf plate for your tool can give a rough edge to the material you're cutting. This part is made from hard durable plastic and it is sold individually. Please note, the hardware to secure this plate is not included, it is sold separately. You will need a screwdriver to secure this keft plate.
