This item is OEM sourced to ensure quality. The metal spring is intended to be used with miter saws from DeWalt. The spring is part of the lower guard assembly and is used to provide torsion to the guard to keep it covering the blade. If the guard does not lower to cover the blade when the arm is raised you may need to replace the spring. This item is sold as a single replacement part.
