The wood being cut twisted. The blade caught it and slammed it into the guard, shattering it.

1. I removed the 4 screws securing the original guard and discarded the remnants.
2. I positioned the replacement guard and put the 4 screws back in.
3. I had to tighten up a few other screws on the saw, not related to the blade guard.
4. I spun the blade by hand all the way around to make sure there were no bent teeth, nothing stuck in the teeth, and no bends in the blade.
5. Then I plugged the saw back in and did a test cut. ItÆs all good.
I am so pleased with finding a replacement blade guard for my 17 year old miter saw! The service was fast, too. I was back up in less than a week.
