The pre filter goes next to the air cleaner cover and helps to clean the air going into the engine. It is an OEM from Yard Man, MTD, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Cub Cadet for use in lawn mowers, tillers, and log splitters. Keep in mind that this part is sold individually and the arrows should point up when it is assembled in the engine. A screwdriver may be helpful when replacing this item. This filter will become dirty over time and will need to be replaced.
