"This is an authentic throttle lever by Makita. It is red in color and is used to increase and decrease the speed of the engine. It allows you to adjust the speed to one of three options: low speed, medium speed, and high speed. When starting up the blower always check the throttle lever for smooth and easy action. If your throttle lever is not working as it should or appears damaged, it will need to be replaced. Before replacing the throttle lever in your leaf blower, remove the wire and boot from the spark plug to prevent the engine for starting. Unthread the screws holding the handle in place. Separate the two sides of the handle. This should give you access to the throttle lever for removal. "
