It is very important to keep your air filter well-maintained so to not harm other important parts. Its main function is to prevent the blower from sucking in contaminants that could block or wear down the engine, in particular the cylinder and piston. A dirty or damaged air filter can hinder air flow essential to mix with the fuel to power the engine. Some indicators of a clogged air filter are power loss, trouble starting, and increased fuel consumption. If when inspecting the filter, you notice it is covered in oil, the material is ripped or there are cracks around the filter, it will need to be replaced immediately. Disconnect the spark plug and remove the air filter cover to access it. Now pull it out of place and insert the new filter into the base. Reinstall the cover and reconnect the spark plug. "
