The cam gear is located on in the cylinder block assembly. It rotates on a pin. Sometimes the gear teeth can wear and that is a sign that a replacement is needed. When reinstalling the cam gear, make sure the alignment marks are matching that of the crankcase. This is an OEM part that is manufactured by Makita and sold separately.
