As the engine got to full temperature the compression would leak past the single piston ring, causing a loss of vacuum, which reduced the airflow through the carberator.

The new piston was redesigned with 2 rings and shape changes that worked with the improved porting in the new cylinder. The cylinder assembly included improved gaskets and heat shield that the original engine did not have. I spent a lot of time cleaning and making the leaf blower look brand new. The only moving part not replaced, was t he crank shaft, so I effectively have a new engine, which is better than it was when it was new.

replaced the cylinder and piston assembly. The old cylinder was scored as was the piston that led to no compression. The reason for not starting.
