The mower deck brackets were worn and rattling around.

you pull the mower deck off and out from under the tractor. The lifter arm/rod is heald in with a bolt on each end and sliding it out of the lever hanger. The deck hanger brackets have two bolts on each one. The right hanger has 3 selectable height positions. The left hanger bracket is adjustable with a setting cam. You hang the deck back on the tractor and adjust the height so it is level and at the height on the lever.

The trickiest part is leveling the deck. I set the deck lever at 3.5 inches and put a 2x4 on the ground the tall way. First checking the height under the fixed bracket then the adjustable bracket and finally the front adjusting to the 2x4. re-check everything for height and tightness.
