Mandrel broke near the tie down bolts, three of the four bolts broke, probably from hitting rocks.

I took off old mandrel by removing belt and pulley, replaced with new mandrel and old shaft and ball bearings. Put back together. runs great. Will stay away from rocks.

Hit a tree root and broke the supports off the mandrel

Removed the cutting blade
Removed the pulley safety cover
Removed pulley
Removed broken mandrel from mower deck
Removed rotating shaft and bearings from mandrel using a punch and hammer
Reinstalled bearings and shaft in new mandrel
Reinstalled mandrel on the mower deck
Reinstalled safety cover.

mandrell cracked after hitting a stump

Ordered the complete kit mandrell kit. Removed the belt , dropped the mower deck , removed the pulley and blade, reattached the blade to new mandrell, bolted the mandrell in place and attached the pulley. I attached the deck and belt, then started mowing again. If you are new to working on mowers be aware that the mandrell bolts are se lf tapping so don\'t panic if you don\'t see threads in the mandrell holes.

Jacked up mower, removed pulleys removed bolts dropped housing out removed shaft out of housing packed bearings replaced shaft in new housing and reinstalled on mower.

Dropped deck, took off mandrel and blade. Replaced part, put deck back on and was ready to go in about an hour!!
