These are authentic replacement parts that are supplied directly from the original equipment manufacturer for use with Murray and Simplicity lawn and garden tractors. This is the ignition switch which is connected to an electric starter motor allowing a user to start the engine with a simple turn of a key. There are multiple reasons a switch could fail, main problems would include either mechanical or electrical issues eventually requiring a replacement. It is a complete assembly which includes the metal body switch, a pair of keys and the hardware to secure the switch.

True root cause was a failed safety switch in the transmission. The switch was supposed to close when the transmission gear shifter was placed in neutral. Probably didn\'t need to replace the starter switch and the solenoid but they work fine.

Starter key switch failed and needed replaced

Disconnected the plug attached to the back of the starting key switch Removed the thin nut at the front of the key switch holding holding it in place. Removed the key switch and reassembled using new parts in the reverse order. Very simple.

1. removed nut from front of switch.
2. removed wires, checked for dirty connections.
3. connected wires to new switch.
4. bolted new switch back in place.
