This fuel tank is a genuine Murray replacement part. It is compatible with many different models of lawn tractors. This tank contains the fuel needed to mobilize the tractor. It is made of plastic, and it contains up to 2.8 gallons. It should be replaced if it is punctured or leaking. The fuel cap (part 92317MA) is included with the purchase of this tank.

My fuel tank was leaking

Take about 10 screws from surrounding sheet metal, unscrew tank(4 screws), pull back steering column, remove tank. Install new tank, then reverse all previous steps, add fuel and go.

Unclamped fuel line to drain gasoline from the tank into a catch bucket. Removed screws holding the fuel tank in place. Removed screws from metal fuel tank housing. Removed old fuel tank. Inserted new fuel tank. Replaced screws in reverse order. Clamped fuel line. Done.

Hole in gas tank

Make sure that the tank is empty, then remove the fuel hose. I then removed four screws from old tank and used them to installed the new tank. I then hooked up the fuel hose to the new tank.

Old gas tank had developed leaks, so rather than burst into flames, i decided to replace it.

1. Unscrewed metal top plate to be loose, but still bound by steering column.
2. Removed screws from old gas tank.
3. Unsnapped and removed plastic housing around air intake.
4. Pulled old tank up and removed fuel line.
5. Removed old tank.
6. Connected new tank to fuel line and re-inserted
7. Reverse p rocess from steps 1, 2, and 3.
Took about 25 minutes, but then again my 4 year old and 6 year old \"helped\", so probably a 10 minute job. Burn all the gas off before you start ;)
