First you hook the short end of the spring on deck brkt , then hook the long end of the spring to the hand lever .
Steering bearing wore out

2. Removed clip from bottom of steering shaft.
3. Jerk up on steering wheel to remove partially - just enough to come out of bearing and leave in place to side of bearing. Steering gear will drop off if you didn\'t pull it off in last step.
4. Used sock ... Read more et extensions to unbolt bearing and bolt new one in place. Pay attention to top vs bottom of bearings. Steering gear won\'t fit back on if you get it reversed.
5. Insert steering column through bearing.
6. Position steering wheel and front tires for steering straight ahead.
7. Insert steering gear on shaft and replace C-clip.
8. Put everything else back on.
