1. Remove carter pin.
2. Unscrew the other end.
3. Remove broken part.
4. Take new rod shifter screw the end in first.
5. Now swing the rod around in place and reinstall the carter pin.
Blocked the tires so wonGÇÖt roll.
Jacked up the rear of the riding mower so can see and have access to shifter rod.
Pull cotter pins on both sides of shifter rod so it can be removed.
Count the threads on the shifter rod and remove so it can be threaded on the new shifter rod in same placement.
Attach the shifter
... Read morerod assembly back in same manner and re-pin with cotter keys.
Test functionality of shifter for alignment.
Lower the rider mower back down, remove tire blocks, and test.
