Idler spring on Troy Bilt Pony riding mower snapped. The mower still ran, but it wouldn\'t move anywhere because of that broken spring.

All it takes is putting in the end of the spring in the hole on the idler pulley, and then stretching to the other end to the hole on the side of the mower.

I took a strong piece of yarn from my wife\'s collection and used that to pull the spring into place. It made the job really easy. Only took about 5 mins at most.

Drive belt worn and tensioning idler spring broke

Removed battery box to access repair. Removed large sheave to install belt and then re-installed sheave with belt on it. Jacked side of tractor and removed right side rear wheel for access. Installed tension spring. Used pry bar to push idler in enough to get belt on. Put it all back together and went to mow the yard.

Removed new spring from package, confirmed that it would work. I purchased a spring that was a little smaller is size than the old one. I had already removed the old spring because one of the ends was broken off. Put one end of the new spring to it\'s location on the blade. I then took the other end and attached the old spring it. With a pair of pliers. I pulled the old and new spring to the locking lever. When the new spring\'s end was put in the hole, I used a flat head screw driver to get the old spring unhooked. Then I tested it and it worked great
