This part is an OEM sourced directly from the manufacturer or use in lawn mowers made by Troy-Bilt and Yard Man. The drive cable attaches to the control rod. If this part becomes broken it will need to be replaced and may require a screwdriver, a set of pliers, and an adjustable wrench during the installation. Keep in mind that this high-quality part is made of metal and plastic and is sold individually.
Removed the bolt holding the cable adjust screw to the push bar.
Tipped mower on side and detached end of cable at drive mechanism.
Used pliers to compress plastic retainer in order to release cable.

Front drive engage cable broke on self-propelled lawnmower.
1. Removed two screws from top of front drive cover using 1/4 in. socket and ratchet.
2. Removed idle pulley and using needle nose pliers, wormed old cable from support.
3. Removed 3/8 hex head bolt from cable attach point on upper handle.
4. Removed old cable and installed new assembly in reverse order,

Lawnmower front wheel drive would not work. Drive cable not working
Take bolt off handle that holds cable then removed cable end from drive handle. Once that was complete I removed 2 bolts on belt cover. Once cover removed I took drive pull off for easy access to cable. Disconnect cable and replaced with new then put everything back together. Belt cover can be a bit trick, not bad though.
