Badly bent blade tetainer

1 Disconnected spark plug
2 Remove blade shield that protects the self propelled belt
3 Attach slide hammer with bearing puller attached to the slides of the blade retainer and slide the hammer back and forth until the retainer releases. About 3 or 4 slides required - retainer and creased key separated
4 Install key re tainer with new insert - lightly grease the parts inserting key into the retainer after inserting the metal insert.
5 Reassemble removed parts and pull of the starter rope to ensure the crank shaft and blade retainer operate together
6 Reinstall spark plug and start engine
