This is an authentic Toro replacement part that has been OEM sourced to be used with walk-behind lawnmowers. The durable plastic trailing shield attaches to the back of the mower's deck assembly. The trailing shield is used to prevent debris or clippings from escaping through the bottom of the rear of the deck. This item is sold as an individual replacement part.

Trailing rubberized shield had broken off (31 years old!) leaving only a rubber sleeve over steel shaft.

1. Removed both rear tires.
2. Removed remaining rubber from mounting shaft on rightmost part of shaft using utility knife.
3. That allowed room to use vice grips to straighten end of mounting shaft.
4. But not straight enough, so put 5-pound sledge head under shaft as an anvil and hammered end so it was finally straight .
5. Slid off remaining rubber from shaft.
7. Slid on new trailing shield.
8. Used vice grips to bend end of mounting shaft upwards enough to keep shield from falling off.
9. Reinstalled both rear tires.
