The rear plate had a minor warp causing the drive gears to mis-align.
Repair was simple
1. remove old plate
2 install the new plate.

Only problem was removing the bearing housing from the plate.This had to be done to take replace the plate with existing parts.
A 1.25\" socket did the job. Other open end wrenches would not budge it.
