the throttle cable broke on my 1992 snapper 36\" walk behind mower

I removed the 2 screws holding the throttle shifter to the control panel - twisted it out of the the panel - removed the cable from the retaining clip on the handle bar - removed the cable from the carb linkage - connected the new cable to the linkage tightened the retaining clip on the carb - put the new throttle control shifter in the c ontrol panel - tightened down the screws ( using the old screws) - put the loose cable in the clip on the handle bar and started it up. I had to adjust the cable at the carb linkage a little to get the running speed and idle where I wanted them and that was it .
