The cable traction replacement part looked identical to the original... all part exactly the same EXCEPT the length of the cable. It was 3\" too short. What should have been 15 minute pop out and pop in replacement with no too ... Read more ls required a re engineering of the situation.
After studying the situation, I decided to take the old cable and gut it to about 8\". Loop it through the anchor hole in the handle bar used to activate the traction belt/cable. And connect it to the shorter than normal traction cable and over lap by 3\" and connect the loop ends to the end of the cable traction cable with small U-bolts.
This required a trip to the hardware big box store to get the ubolts and some lead cable ends to hammer on the cables to prevent fraying.
So, re-engineering, travel and shopping time, and tasked to perform the process made it a 2 hour job. Not something I was looking forward to.
HOWEVER, I didn\'t have to spend $300 to $700 on a new lawnmower or $100 on a shop repair. All totaled about $25 dollars in parts and free labor.
With all of the other parts from EReplacement I have added some more years to my 23 year old mower.
I was hoping someone could look into why the replacement part for my model number is 3\" too short...
Regards,
Ken
