This part is an OEM from Craftsman for use with Craftsman Lawn Mowers. The engine zone control cable stops the engine when you let go of the handle. The most common reason for replacing the control cable is if it is broken, causing the brake to not release even when the lever is pressed. This part is sold individually. Removed broken cable by removing the top of the engine cover, and installed newly purchased cable. Replaced the engine cover and attached the snap in the holder on the handle and connected the cable end to the handle. Simple job.
Removed old cable by prying handle bar retainer clip off with screwdriver. Snapped new cable with retainer into place and tied to handle with a couple of plastic wire ties.

Used pliers to remove the clip on the engine, a screwdriver to pry off the mounting clip on the handle bar. I used a zip tie I had on hand to keep the wire attached to the handle bar.
Removed upper handle cable locking feature with pliers. Disconnected cable ends from engine and control zone cable operator\'s handle. Disconnect cable end from engine by squeezing plastic locking feature at engine end of cable - this will free cable for removal. Reinstalled new engine zone control cable by pushing plastic locking feature
