I had to remove the compete starter rope and spring assembly. The threaded stand offs came un screwed inside the mower so getting the nuts off to remove the old assembly was a little bit of a chore. I put the new assembly on, finally, and pulled the cord. The cord only pulled out about 14 to 16 inches but, my mower did start. I thought s omething was wrong with the new part so I took it off. I saw nothing visible and finally discovered the new cord was shorter than the old one.

Unbolted the old starter coil and rope. Attached the new starter coil and rope and done. The new rope is three times shorter than the old one, watch out. My Honda is about 15 years old. Old ones had a long rope.

Removed entire starter assembly by taking off 3 nuts (10mm metric). Replaced it with new starter assembly. Tightened the 3 nuts. No other adjustments necessary. Couldn\'t have been easier. Finding my metric sockets took longer than anything else!
