This is an OEM trailing shield for your lawn mower. Over time, it is normal for the trail shield to become worn or damaged, and in need of a replacement. It is black in color and located between your rear wheels. It is designed to lessen the number of stones and other rubble from being flung backwards towards the operator. The shield is also an important safety feature that helps to lessen the likelihood of your foot accidentally contacting the blade. Never operate your lawn mower if the trailing shield is broken, damaged or missing. To remove the old shield, start by removing the battery. Turn the mower on its side and remove both rear wheels. Loosen the locking screw from the trailing shield on both sides and remove the old shield. Now attach the new trailing shield with the two locking screws and flat washers. Reinstall the rear wheels, making sure to replace the parts in the exact order they were removed.
