Remove cover plate. Remove tension springs to allow easier manipulation of drive ring. If space is too tight, remove gas tank from mower. Replace drive ring as you would a tire- loop around bottom then very careful stretch around drive ring disc. I found using a spring puller made the job much simpler by allowing me to hook the ring a

Removed fan belt pulleys rear wheels and rear axle assembly the dealer told me it\'s a 14 year old machine wanted 175.00. If I get another year or two I will be happy..... Ariens on line service Manuel was helpful. You do need some mechanical skills to perform repairs
1 Remove spark plug wire
2 Remove blade, using a block of wood to stop blade turning
3 Remove cover over drive system
4 Make sure gas tank is empty
5 Turn mower on side remove old belt from below deck
6 Install new belt with idler arm in correct position.
