Compound rest had stripped lock nuts . Replaced them with T Bolts and nuts.

The older Jet Metal Lathes used a pair of round based nuts with Allen Head cap bolts to lock the compound down after adjusting the angle. It didn\'t take long (25 years of constant use) for the nuts to strip out. All the new model Lathes have larger T Bolts that do the same thing, with a heavy washer and nut on the top. This is much easi er to adjust . You have to make two bushings to fill the holes on the top of the compound that were designed for the head of the Allen Head cap bolts. Now you only need a Open /box wrench to lock things down and with tools in place the flat wrench doesn\'t hang up the anything, where as before you had to us a long Allen wrench to loosen the fasteners and they always hung up the the handles on the quick change tool post.
