Worth the Wait!
I bought my kettle at a yardsale knowing that I would need to find a replacement base. ereplacementparts.com was the only resource with a base in stock. Delivery took a while (ok, I'm impatient!) but the part was inexpensive and it works just fine. Now I can heat water any place I can plug in my pot - the patio, office, etc. - without running to the kitchen for every refill.
