Used the screwdriver to pry the switch out of the heater. There are six slide on electrical connections on the back of the switch. I moved the wires one at a time from the old switch to the new one, to avoid any confusion. The new switch slid easily into the heater , and snapped back into place. Couldn\'\'t be easier.

On-line repair instructions I found are for later models of this DeLonghi heater that do not use the security torx fasteners. My older unit requires that these fasteners be removed rather than the phillips head screws to access the electrical components. So...
1. Remove the torx screws.
2. Pull the leads from the heater elem ent (note the connections used) and swing the end panel up off the unit.
3. Remove the leads from the back of the old switch (again note the connections) and compress the side fingers so it comes out the front of the panel. There is limited access to compress the fingers with pliers, so a flat blade screwdriver may work better,
4. Note which way is up on the switch and manually press it in so the side fingers latch in place behind the bezel.
5. Reconnect the leads for the switch from step 3.
6. Insert the tab at the top of the panel into the slot in the heater frame, swing it down so you can reconnect the leads from step 2, and then replace the two screws from step 1. The end.

Open the control panel by unscrewing the end piece of the heater. There are a few Phillips head screws, and some square-heads. Remove the dual switch unit by pushing it out from behind. Detach each terminal lead, and attach them one-by-one to the new switch in the exact terminal. Push the new switch unit into it\'s cavity until it clicks into position. Re-attach the control unit by reversing the removal process. Plug it in, and enjoy the heat.

This was a DeLonghi SafeHeat heater. Perfect, trouble-free service life of probably 15 years. One recent morning, one of the two rocker switches just snapped off and broke into pieces. The replacement switches, which come as a single unit, were perfect. The trick for me was gaining access. It took the better part of an hour to first figur e out a sequence, then carefully disassemble parts of the heater. Once I had access, the switch replacement was simple, and reassembly took only minutes. I should probably add that I\'m an amateur homeowner and had never done this before; a pro could have made this repair in 10 minutes. The heater\'s now good as new. Nice unit.
