REMOVED CHUCK. MINE WAS MISSING THE LOCK SCREW INSIDE THE CHUCK. THIS WILL HAVE TO BE REMOVED FIRST. USUALLY REVERSE THREAD.

1. On the drill; open chuck all the way to access and remove the Philips head screw which has \"reverse threads\".
2. Put shorter end of a large Allen wrench in the chuck and tighten.
3. Use the Allen wrench to unscrew the chuck from the drill by hitting it sharply with a rubber hammer. (The chuck has standard threads).

My Bosch drill ( 1194AVSR ) is old, ( approx. 20 yr.\'s old and not used much as I work for companies with supplied equipment ).
Semi retired now and it needed a fix up for use.
The chuck did not have a retainer screw as I found out after drilling out the stop end ( like many I thought the retainer screw was stripped ).
... Read moreI used the proper wrench on the shaft before the chuck, used a 1/2 hex key in the chuck, and with a small breaker bar while supporting the drill, the old chuck broke free.
The replacement parts ( no retainer screw needed ) are functioning properly.
